These last 2 weeks, we have been having "Measuring Olympics" in Math. It has been a lot of fun, but what the kids are not realizing is that they are learning!
We had the Airplane Action part. They had 15 minutes to make paper airplanes any way they wanted. We had a fly zone in our room so they could practice. When the time was up, we all went into the hall to fly them as far as they could.
After they all flew them, they had different methods of measurement.
They had rulers(ft), 10-longs(DM), and color tiles(in). Each group had a winner, and then they had to compare measurements and see who the overall winner was.

The boy who won has won the last 2 events, so everyone is wanting to beat him today in the Paperclip Toss!
